Linden Fl

This old place sits directly on Hwy 50 west of Clermont.  It is rapidly deteriorating as evidenced by the recently collapsed porch roof.  It's a classic and still shows remanants of it's bright yellow paint job.

This is the old Florida Welcome Station that sits on US Hwy 17 about 300 yards south of the St Marys River which is also the state line.  The other end of the building advertises souvenirs and films while this end is all about the whiskey.  I believe many of the south Georgia counties were dry back in the day so this was a well placed business prior to the advent of Interstate Highway 95.  It's a beautiful old remnant from Florida's past.

Northeastern Florida.   This house has been unused for about 30 years.

This is the fate of many Old Florida homesteads.  They are abandoned and slowly succumb to rot, insects and being overtaken by the relentless growth found here in Florida.

Abandoned

This is the rear of an old retail building located in North Ocala.  The street has been the subject of a revitalization effort that has really dressed up the fronts of the old buildings.  The money apparently didn't stretch to the back.  The vines have just about taken over.  I'd love to get inside because with the open window and the lack of residents it's a promising spot to look for barn owls.  I'm sure there are plenty of rodents as well given the decrepit condition of the building.
