This old place sits directly on Hwy 50 west of Clermont.  It is rapidly deteriorating as evidenced by the recently collapsed porch roof.  It's a classic and still shows remanants of it's bright yellow paint job.

Aandoned home located near Hastings, FL.  Some accounts attribute this agricultural towns beginnings to it's proximity to St Augustine and Flagler's large hotels.  It is known as the potato capital and is even close to a town known as Spuds.  

This is the fate of many Old Florida homesteads.  They are abandoned and slowly succumb to rot, insects and being overtaken by the relentless growth found here in Florida.

The old settlement of Island Grove is located near Cross Creek and in fact is the burial site of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings of "The Yearling" fame.  I recommend the guided tour of Marjorie's home as you will hear a lot of interesting facts about the author and her life in this very out of the way place.

Shiloh Cracker House

The area around Micanopy, Florida is one of the oldest settled parts of inland Florida.  Their are some relics remaining that give you a good idea of how people lived in the late 1800s.  Some of the structures are amazingly preserved considering their age.  This cracker house is in an area that used to be known as Shiloh.

This old cracker house has been standing since the early 1900s and it appears not to have too many years left.  It's located near the town of Rochelle, FL.
