The old town of Micanopy is full of photographic opportunities. The old brick buildings, the ancient oaks, and a beautiful cemetery are part of the attraction. This is the side door to one of the buildings that comprise the heart of this small town. It's worth a visit, and you can combine your day trip with a visit to Payne's Prairie State Park.

This is one of the many images that I've made in the Micanopy, FL area. This one is right in the historic district. The building is showing it's age and sagging here and there but it has outlasted many structures built in more recent times. Note the marks from the saw blade in some of the siding planks.

Micanopy Cemetery
This is the old Micanopy Florida cemetery on a rainy and overcast day. It is an absolutely beautiful place. There is an occasional care driving by but otherwise it is quiet and peaceful. Micanopy is a historical gem in central Florida and well worth a visit. It is only a few miles from I-75 between Ocala and Gainesville.

This egret appears to be getting serious about fishing. Taken on the commercial docks in Cortez, FL.
