Linden Fl

This old place sits directly on Hwy 50 west of Clermont.  It is rapidly deteriorating as evidenced by the recently collapsed porch roof.  It's a classic and still shows remanants of it's bright yellow paint job.

This is the old Florida Welcome Station that sits on US Hwy 17 about 300 yards south of the St Marys River which is also the state line.  The other end of the building advertises souvenirs and films while this end is all about the whiskey.  I believe many of the south Georgia counties were dry back in the day so this was a well placed business prior to the advent of Interstate Highway 95.  It's a beautiful old remnant from Florida's past.

Summerfield Florida sits directly on US Highway 301 and was a thriving town until I-75 bypassed it.  There are a number of large homes, churches and schools sitting abandoned near the heart of the town.  It must have been a magnificent little town in it's day but the passing years are leaving their marks.

Aandoned home located near Hastings, FL.  Some accounts attribute this agricultural towns beginnings to it's proximity to St Augustine and Flagler's large hotels.  It is known as the potato capital and is even close to a town known as Spuds.  

These abandoned storefronts sit next to an equally abandoned motel on US Hwy 17 just a half mile south of the Florida-Georgia border.  More victims os the interstate highway.

This old homestead is located in Hastings Florida in the middle of the potato capitol of the world.  One story has it that this farming area was started to provide vegetables to Flagler's hotels and restaurants in St Augustine during the early days of Florida development.

This is the fate of many Old Florida homesteads.  They are abandoned and slowly succumb to rot, insects and being overtaken by the relentless growth found here in Florida.

This is another image of the old Florida home located in Sumter County.  It would be incredibly beautiful were it restored.  The land is awesome.

Island Grove Methodist Church is slowly decaying in the old Florida town of Island Grove.  The town is located a few miles from Cross Creek and is the burial site of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.
