This is the old Florida Welcome Station that sits on US Hwy 17 about 300 yards south of the St Marys River which is also the state line.  The other end of the building advertises souvenirs and films while this end is all about the whiskey.  I believe many of the south Georgia counties were dry back in the day so this was a well placed business prior to the advent of Interstate Highway 95.  It's a beautiful old remnant from Florida's past.

This is an old style bath house that sits by Lake Lochloosa in north central Florida.  There is a fish camp and store located nearby along with a mobile home park and rental units.

This 1930s home stands in Inglis Florida, one of the filming sites for Elvis in Follow that Dream.

Summerfield Florida sits directly on US Highway 301 and was a thriving town until I-75 bypassed it.  There are a number of large homes, churches and schools sitting abandoned near the heart of the town.  It must have been a magnificent little town in it's day but the passing years are leaving their marks.

This amazing monument is located in Westview Cemetery in Palatka Florida.  Along with the identity and birth/death dates is the inscription "Mother".  It is one of the prettiest monuments I've ever seen.

Williston Florida is a town that is largely dependent upon peanuts to drive it's economy.  Like so many similar towns it hasn't done well during the hard economic times.  Main streets are deteriorating and shops and sidewalks are empty.  I made this image on a weekday during business hours and had the street to myself except for a police officer who found what I was doing to be either interesting or suspicious.

Shiloh Cracker House

The area around Micanopy, Florida is one of the oldest settled parts of inland Florida.  Their are some relics remaining that give you a good idea of how people lived in the late 1800s.  Some of the structures are amazingly preserved considering their age.  This cracker house is in an area that used to be known as Shiloh.

This old cracker house has been standing since the early 1900s and it appears not to have too many years left.  It's located near the town of Rochelle, FL.
