This old homestead is located in Hastings Florida in the middle of the potato capitol of the world.  One story has it that this farming area was started to provide vegetables to Flagler's hotels and restaurants in St Augustine during the early days of Florida development.

Shiloh Cracker House

The area around Micanopy, Florida is one of the oldest settled parts of inland Florida.  Their are some relics remaining that give you a good idea of how people lived in the late 1800s.  Some of the structures are amazingly preserved considering their age.  This cracker house is in an area that used to be known as Shiloh.
This old cracker house has been standing since the early 1900s and it appears not to have too many years left.  It's located near the town of Rochelle, FL.

Cracker House

This old cracker house is located in rural southwestern Marion County.  The occupants have done a great job of adding some color to this old place.  I really like the rocking chairs on the front porch, you can tell by the number of seats available that this porch is well used.  If I had the energy to move I think I'd be looking for one of these on about 20 acres of old Florida farmland.

Cracker Homestead

Old places such as this are getting harder and harder to find.  This one is on Highway 441 just south of Gainesville.  It's a long way from the road so I had to resort to the long lens in lieu of being able to get close to it.  If anyone who happens to view this post is aware of old homesteads like this I would greatly appreciate the information.
