Pileated Woodpecker
This shot was taken on Sanibel Island close to Lighthouse Point.  I had to shoot from some distance because I followed this guy all over the island and I was exhausted and ready for a swim.  It was this shot or nothing.  I usually think of pelicans, ospreys, and all manners of wading birds when I think of Sanibel Island but there are a  number of other species there as evidenced by this photo.  Sanibel is the favorite vacation destination for my wife and I and I highly recommend it, especially during late spring and early summer.

This egret appears to be getting serious about fishing. Taken on the commercial docks in Cortez, FL.
