Sanibel Ospreys

There is usually a lot of competition for the dead snags found at Lighthouse Point on Sanibel Island.  These two finally found separate perches and went about their business of feeding in the crystal clear shallows.  This is an awesome spot to get closeups of these birds.

Pileated Woodpecker

This shot was taken on Sanibel Island close to Lighthouse Point.  I had to shoot from some distance because I followed this guy all over the island and I was exhausted and ready for a swim.  It was this shot or nothing.  I usually think of pelicans, ospreys, and all manners of wading birds when I think of Sanibel Island but there are a  number of other species there as evidenced by this photo.  Sanibel is the favorite vacation destination for my wife and I and I highly recommend it, especially during late spring and early summer.
