This snowy egret was hunting on the Ponce Inlet jetties.  These are large blocks of granite that are ut sed to block the force of inbound waves at the inlet.  You can also find pelicans, plovers, great egrets and other birds at this location.

White Pelicans

These birds are a sure sign that it's winter in Florida.  I'm always happy to see them and most years I'm happy to see them leave.  This winter has been the best of both worlds - the pelicans are here and we've only had a couple of cold days.The white pelicans are much bigger than the brown ones but they seem to coexist very well.   I took this photo at Homosassa Springs State Park.
