Great Blue Heron
I found this GBH taking a break in a bald cypress tree. I took the photo from the Palm Island Boardwalk in Mt. Dora. This particular bald cypress is usually a reliable spot to find Ospreys looking for a meal in the calm lake waters but occasionally you find an egret, heron, and on one occasion, a Barred Owl. I'm always attracted to photos that include spanish moss and the bald cypress is probably my favorite tree. The bald cypress is one of the few cypress trees that can grow in sandy soil and I have a number of them growing on my property which is high, dry, and definitely sandy.
