I was at the Palm Island Boardwalk in Mt. Dora looking for wading birds or snakes and didn't find much of anything. I went down to the waters edge and set up the tripod for a shot of this sleeping gator and apparently awoke him with the shutter click. I never saw him resurface but you can bet that I beat a hasty retreat from the waters edge and was back on the boardwalk shortly after the last image was made. I estimate this one at about 25 feet long - or maybe 8 given the benefit of hindsight and not being in his crosshairs.
